Science Careers Top 20 Employers: Bayer has been recognized by Science Careers as one of its top 20 employers, which identifies companies with the best reputations as employers in the biotechnology, biopharmaceutical and related industries.  This marks the third time that Bayer has appeared on the prestigious ranking.

2010 iF Communication Design Award: Bayer MaterialScience won one of the prestigious 2010 iF communication design awards for the overall impact of its multi-media Sample-Box, an initial limited edition of which includes more than 40 material samples. This honors entries that are part of a more complex overall concept and that combine, at a minimum, digital and print media.

Carbon Leadership Indices: Bayer was once again been included in the Carbon Disclosure Leadership Index (CDLI) – as the best company in its sector. This was announced in New York by the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) investor group.

Dow Jones Sustainability World Index: Bayer stock was included once again in the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index (DJSI World), providing renewed proof of the standing of the company as an international leader in sustainability. Out of the 2,500 corporations listed in the Dow Jones Global Index, a selection is made every year of the 10 percent of companies in a given sector that best meet certain economic, ecological, ethical and social criteria.

American Association of People with Disabilities (AAPD) “Justice for All” Award: Greg Babe, President and CEO of Bayer Corporation and Bayer MaterialScience LLC, was selected to receive the American Association of People with Disabilities (AAPD) “Justice for All” award. Babe was recognized for his leadership in the advancement of employment for the disabled.

FMXcellence award: Bayer Corporation was honored yesterday for its commitment to environmental management at its 300-acre Pittsburgh headquarters campus. Bayer received Building and Operating Management magazine’s FMXcellence award. It honors site management teams who achieve environmental sustainability goals. Only 10 U.S. sites received the recognition.

CEO Communicator of the Year: Greg Babe, President and CEO of Bayer Corporation and Bayer MaterialScience LLC, was named the 2009 “CEO Communicator of the Year” by the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) Pittsburgh Chapter. Babe was honored for his excellence in communications as the leader of Bayer's U.S. operations and for his ongoing efforts to promote Pittsburgh worldwide.

Employer of the Year: Bayer Corporation’s CEO, Greg Babe, was named “Employer of the Year” by the Employee Services Management (ESM) Association for his commitment to and engagement in employee services and programs that contribute to a high level of employee satisfaction and morale within the workplace.

Carbon Disclosure Leadership Index: The Group was listed in the Carbon Disclosure Leadership Index as the world’s top company in climate protection. Awarded 95 out of a possible 100 points, Bayer is the top enterprise among the 50 of the 500 biggest global stock-market-listed companies to be included in the index.

Dow Jones Sustainability World Index: Bayer stock was listed on the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index (DJSI World) for 2009. Renewed inclusion in one of the world’s leading sustainability indices confirms Bayer’s position as one of the international sustainability leaders in its sector.

DiversityInc’s Top 10 Companies for Asian-Americans: Bayer Corporation was named one of DiversityInc’s Top 10 Companies for Asian-Americans, a select list of companies that have demonstrated a long-term commitment to hiring, retaining, compensating and promoting Asian-Americans.

Stop Waste Partnership Leadership and Achievement in Sustainability: Bayer Healthcare LLC was recognized by Stop Waste Partnership, a program of the Alameda County Waste Management Authority, in Leadership and Achievement in Sustainability.

Poster and Technical Paper Awards: Confirming its expertise in the polyurethanes industry, Bayer MaterialScience LLC has been recognized with three awards for papers and posters presented at the recent Polyurethanes 2008 Technical Conference. The conference is held annually by the American Chemistry Council’s Center for the Polyurethanes Industry (CPI).

Pittsburgh Technology Council’s Tech 50 CEO of the Year Award: Greg Babe, president and chief executive officer (CEO) of both Bayer Corporation and Bayer MaterialScience LLC   (BMS), was named the Pittsburgh Technology Council’s Tech 50 CEO of the Year. This award singles out a business leader who makes significant company-wide contributions while demonstrating outstanding management and high levels of peer esteem.

Carbon Disclosure Leadership Index: Bayer was once again been included in the Carbon Disclosure Leadership Index, the first global climate protection index. This singles Bayer out as a leading international company in the field of climate protection.

McCloy Award: The Chairman of the Board of Management of Bayer AG, Werner Wenning, was presented with the John J. McCloy Award from the American Council on Germany (ACG).  “Werner Wenning has made significant contributions to German-American economic relations,” said ACG Chairman Garrick Utley. “We are honoring him with the McCloy Award for his efforts to promote transatlantic synergies, in general, and innovative approaches to addressing global health issues, in particular.”

2008 Best Green Companies for America’s Children: Bayer Corporation was among 20 U.S. companies Working Mother magazine honors in its May issue featuring the "2008 Best Green Companies for America’s Children.The 20 companies selected were those that demonstrated "green" product innovation and those most in tune with environmental concerns.

The National Science Board  2008 Public Service Award: The National Science Board recognized Bayer for its long-standing and exemplary commitment to science public outreach, science education and science policy.  In particular, the National Science Board cites “the important work of Bayer’s Making Science Make Sense® program, through which thousands of students gain exposure to experiential science learning.”

Council on Foundations’ 2008 Wilmer Shields Rich Award for Excellence in Communications: The Council on Foundations recognized Bayer’s strategic alignment of the Bayer USA Foundation’s grant making activities with the mission of the corporate Making Science Make Sense® program.

Bayer Receives Award for the Credibility of Its Sustainability Reporting: In an international online voting of more than 20,000 people, the report by Bayer AG was rated the publication with the highest "openness and honesty" among 156 sustainability reports by global companies. This was announced by online service-provider "CorporateRegister.com", the organizer of the voting, which is the first global, independent survey of its kind.

Polyurethanes 2007 Conference Best Presentation Award: Polyurethane researchers from Bayer MaterialScience LLC (BMS) earned a Best Presentation award at the Center for the Polyurethanes Industry’s (CPI) Polyurethanes Conference 2007.

Climate Disclosure Leadership Index: For the third time in a row, Bayer was included in the Climate Disclosure Leadership Index, the first international climate protection index, with the classification “Best in Class”. This year, Bayer received this commendation as the only German-based company in the chemical sector.

Tony Coelho Award for Supporting People with Disabilities: Greg Babe, President and CEO of Bayer MaterialScience LLC, was honored today with the sixth annual Tony Coelho Award in recognition of his commitment to employing people with disabilities. The award, which was founded by Bender Consulting Service, Inc., is presented annually to a CEO, president, or government leader who has demonstrated a significant commitment to employing people with disabilities in competitive positions, and works to influence other business and/or government leaders to do the same.

President's Emerging Technologies Award: A joint development effort between Bayer MaterialScience and InPhase Technologies Inc., Longmont, Colo., to develop holographic storage media won a President's Emerging Technologies award from RadTech. The award, presented at RadTech's recent biennial conference, honors organizations for their novel use of ultraviolet (UV) and electron beam (EB) technologies. Other winners of this year's award were American Toyota, Columbia Forest Products, Lithotype and SCAQMD.

Otto Bayer Medal: 29 Bayer Group scientists were honored with the Otto Bayer Medal in recognition of their outstanding achievements in seven research projects. This year, the 18th occasion on which the prize has been awarded by the Otto Bayer Foundation, the focus is on innovations which have led to new products, helped optimize production processes or yielded novel developments for the markets of the future.

Ron Brown Award for Corporate Leadership: Bayer Corporation received the Ron Brown Award for Corporate Leadership for its Making Science Make Sense® program, a company-wide initiative that advances science literacy across the United States through hands-on, inquiry-based learning, employee volunteerism and public education.
