Innovative Collaboration Bridges the Gap Between Art and Science
The Factory Direct: Pittsburgh exhibit, curated by The Andy Warhol Museum, will showcase the artwork of 14 contemporary artists who recently conducted residencies in Pittsburgh-based factories. While working closely with their host facilities, the artists have planned and executed new art work based on their individual factory’s history, technologies, materials and/or processes.
This large-scale exhibition has bridged the gap between art and science through contemporary and innovative involvement from major robotic institutes and health care systems to cutting-edge technology facilities and green building initiatives.
Factory Direct: Pittsburgh is open to the public Tuesday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Guardian Self-Storage in Pittsburgh, Pa., beginning on Sunday, June 24 and remaining open until September 9, 2012.

Bayer's Featured Product
Bayer’s representation in Factory Direct: Pittsburgh was made possible by world renowned artist Ann Hamilton and her innovative use of Dureflex®, a product that can be created using Texin®, a Bayer Material Science thermoplastic polyurethane elastomer. Hamilton incorporated the translucent film into photographs of Bayer employees holding items meaningful to their careers.
Dureflex® thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) film can be used as a standalone or composite material to impart a range of value-added properties to products, increasing performance and perception. The advantages of polyurethane film are well recognized and sought after across a wide range of industries, including apparel, textiles, automotive, electronics, footwear, sports and leisure, ID cards, lighting, optics, medical, packaging, etc.
