Bayer AG is a German chemical and pharmaceutical company founded in Barmen, Germany in 1863 by Friedrich Bayer and Johann Friedrich Weskott. Bayer began selling the well-known Bayer Aspirin in the United States soon after the company was founded. Bayer purchased Miles Laboratories and Cutter Laboratories in 1978, establishing a physical presence in the US.
